A GENERATIONAL HERITAGE

A FAMILY'S PASSION FOR THE SEA

Aran Sea Tours 216

Aran Sea Tours was established in Summer 2021 by Niall his son Aidan and Cousin Cathal. Between them they have over 30 years of knowledge and experience working the seas around Aran.

OUR STORY - ÁR SCÉAL

Our love for the sea goes right back to our grandfather, Martin Joyce, who fished his currach out from the eastern tip of Inis Mór, manually launching off the shore in all weather conditions to make a living. Niall, Aidan, and Cathal have long wanted to reveal a unique and untouched side of the Aran Islands that visitors never experience when setting foot on Inis Mór. They have spent their lives fishing, swimming, and scuba diving around these islands and have always felt that tourists should experience the breathtaking scenery and raw landscapes that the Aran Islands have to offer.

Our main desire is to showcase the southern side of Aran to people from all over the world. The southern side of Inis Mór is teeming with birdlife and also boasts the island’s tallest cliffs. Our aim is to show you a natural, untouched Aran, where you can immerse yourself in cliff scenery, fresh air, and thriving birdlife—without even knowing what century you're in!

Niall

Niall spent his summers on Aran fishing with our uncle Michael on his lobster boat, the Naomh Beanán. Many years of hard-earned knowledge were gained here while navigating every nook and cranny of the islands. Niall is also a commercial fisherman based out of the well-known fishing port of Killybegs during the harsh winter months, fishing all over Ireland, Scotland, and as far north as Norway. Scuba diving has been a major hobby in his life, and he obtained his full PADI license, having scuba dived all around the west coast and as far as Egypt. Niall is more than happy to share his best fishing spots and use his expertise to get you up close and personal with the stunning cliffs of Aran.

Cathal

Cathal is a marine engineer who has sailed all over the world on large cargo ships and is currently chief engineer on a superyacht. During his free time, he helps with the maintenance and upkeep of the boat, ensuring it is kept to the highest standards for our valued passengers. Cathal loves spending time back home on Aran and enjoys meeting people from different nationalities. What better way to do that than by showing off the beauty of the Aran Islands?

He loves spending his time away from the books on the sea and sharing his knowledge of Aran with all our passengers. Alissa

Alissa is the youngest member of the team and is keeping the standard of Aran Sea Tours at an all-time high by getting out on a fishing trip or tour at every opportunity she can get. Alissa is great at chatting and getting to know our passengers while also loving taking plenty of pictures to share and capture those happy moments. Alissa plays a significant role in the team, helping us build a good reputation and lasting experience; after all, we did name the boat after her!
